rooted in heritage

Via Aurelia takes its name from the historic road that traced Italy’s western coast to Rome. It was a route of trade, culture, and refinement–an exchange that shaped Tuscany’s culinary soul. Our restaurant carries that legacy to San Francisco, honoring tradition while embracing the city’s own rhythm.

Heritage

Via Aurelia is an immersive journey into the heart of Tuscany delving deeply into its traditions, presenting flavors shaped by the region’s centuries of trade and vast coastline. It’s these traditions we have distilled into a modern San Francisco Setting.

The Team

Via Aurelia brings fine dining to Mission Rock from Back Home Hospitality. David Nayfeld and Matt Brewer, creators of Che Fico, Che Fico Parco Menlo, Che Fico Pizzeria and Bubbelah continue their shared commitment to craft and hospitality.

The Menu

Rooted in the heart of Tuscan cuisine, Via Aurelia celebrates its simplicity with a modern sensibility, showcasing pristine seafood, housemade pastas, and produce-driven creations, and honoring the region’s most iconic ingredients and beloved dishes. With vibrant and fragrant Antipasti featuring tableside presentations to handcrafted pastas made with the care and deft hands like those made in Tuscany – Pici All’Aglione, Tortelli and Pappardelle with rich complexity. Our entrees span both land and sea and present Tuscan technique and flavors shared with San Francisco’s robust ingredients. Hand-dived Scallops, Dry-Aged Liberty Duck and the iconic Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

The Wine

The wine program, curated from award-winning Director of Wine, Jason Alexander places an emphasis on Tuscan and Italian wines while featuring top selections from France and California’s premier producers. The 650 bottle list highlights a deep selection of verticals from key producers around the world as well as a significant selection of half and large format bottles.

Our Vision

Via Aurelia is a love letter to Tuscany. Blending the heritage of Tuscan cuisine, with expertly selected wine in the modern and luxurious dining room, we bring a memorable dining experience to the San Francisco Mission Rock landscape. The restaurant also strives to be more than a dining destination but also a symbol of San Francisco’s resilience and potential.  Via Aurelia will be a testament to San Francisco’s upward momentum, an illustration of growth, community, and world-class hospitality.
